When it's time to return home, be sure to deregister and inform the appropriate authorities and service providers on time.

Deregister at the municipality

Do not forget to deregister at the municipality when you leave the country for longer than 8 months. Otherwise you may be charged with taxes and fines. The municipality informs other government authorities of your departure.

Vaccinations

Also check with your General Practitioner about any vaccinations you might need and request a summary of your medical history in English. If you come from a tropical country, your resistance to malaria has been reduced by living in Holland. If you get malaria after you return home, your symptoms will be more severe and dangerous, so be sure to visit a doctor.
