Ordering a marriage booklet

You are not obliged to purchase a marriage booklet.

Marriage booklet

The marriage booklet records a part of your marriage certificate or partnership registration. There are two versions of marriage booklets:

• white plastic booklet
• dark-blue leather booklet

Ordering afterwards

You can also order a marriage booklet after your wedding or partnership registration, when you have lost your booklet for instance. Was your ceremony conducted in Delft? In that case, call 14015 to make an appointment.

Stated surname

A marriage or partnership gives you the right to use your partner’s surname. You will, however, always keep your own surname. So your marriage or partnership booklet you will record your own surname.

Adding particulars

You can arrange for recording the birth of a child in your marriage booklet if both of you are the child’s parents. You can also arrange for recording a death. This may be done when the event is announced, but in a later phase as well. Adding personal records in the marriage booklet is possible only in the municipality where the event actually took place.
