This application is composed of 3 parts. You must complete the first 2 pages together with your partner. Please ask for the confirmation form to be completed by the municipality in which the marriage registrar is appointed, and the statement of consent to be completed by the marriage registrar in person.

Only an official marriage registrar

You can only arrange the appointment of a person who is appointed and sworn in as marriage registrar in another municipality and as such marries persons regularly in that municipality. In Delft it is not possible to have your wedding arranged by a friend or relative who is in fact not a marriage registrar.

Remuneration

The municipality does not remunerate marriage registrars from other municipalities in the case of once-only registrar appointments. 

Gown

Bands and a gown are available to marriage registrars in the city hall in the Markt. This does not apply to the other wedding locations.

A marriage registrar from another municipality must:

• be appointed as (special) registrar of marriages by the other municipality
• be sworn in as (special) registrar of marriages by the court
• marry persons or conduct partnership proceedings regularly in the registrar’s own municipality
• be familiar with the laws and rules for conducting weddings or partnership proceedings
• comply with the arrangements that apply in Delft on conducting marriage or partnership proceedings
• ensure that the speech is available in writing not later than 2 days in advance. If so, a colleague might take over in the case of emergency.
